Nutrition & Meals

DETCOG AAA funds two programs which address the needs of residents age 60 and older in the twelve county area. Nutritious meals are served on site and/or delivered to home-bound seniors in a network of congregate sites and home-delivered meal service areas throughout the region. These once a day meals meet one-third of the daily required intake of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Congregate Meals at Senior Centers

Senior Citizen Centers serve nutritious, hot meals five days a week at our Local Facilities. Individuals age 60 and older and their spouses are eligible for the meals and senior center programs. Other programs offered at the centers may vary from

health assessments, nutrition education, physical fitness, advocacy, creative arts, legal clinics, volunteer opportunities, information and referral, and games. Donations are accepted.

Home Delivered Meals

Hot meals are prepared and delivered to home-bound disabled and elderly persons. The Home Delivered Meals Program provides a nutritious noon meal and allows individuals to remain at home avoiding isolation and allow them more independence to remain in their own homes.
